Rodarte Reigns
CHEEKMagazine.com’s favourite tenacious sisters are coming out on top. Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the duo behind Rodarte, took home the award for Best Womenswear Designer at the Council of Fashion Designer of America awards.
Considering how fresh the label is, and that the duo were competing against Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriguez (aka, fashion’s Hot Shit), we’re chuffed to report that these Pasadena chicks rightfully took home the most prestigious award from the CFDA.
Rodarte was started in 2005 and has quickly become a favourite among Hollywood starlets such as Cate Blanchett, Kiera Knightley and Reese Witherspoon.
Rodarte has become a diamond among pearls for lace and leather patterns on evening gowns, and now its gothic inspired ripped leggings – especially its newest Diamond Cut – is launching thousands of look-alikes.
The sisters told mediabistro.com that their designs are best described as “a mixture between science fiction and site-specific art.” A vivid imagination these ladies have, and thankfully they can translate it into their designs.
Congrats girls! We can’t wait to see what you will enchant us with next! We are waiting with baited breath…
