We’re thrilled to report that the word on the street (and, um, Vogue) is that Sophia Kokosalaki is continuing to kick ass and take names. News just dropped that Kokosalaki will now be reigning as design queen at Diesel’s Black Gold line.

We’re all about this step-up line from Diesel’s regular merch; sexy, comfy, grunge-chic… what’s not to love? Ever since the Greek designer showed her first line at London Fashion Week in 1999 at the ripe age of 17, she’s been showing strong.

Kokosalaki’s official title and start date at Diesel Black Gold has yet to be released, but whenever it is, we’ll be there with bells, studs, buckles, buttons, safety pins, and other various embellishments on. Sophia’s about to turn it up a notch.

Kokosalaki’s recent leap into Diesel adds to her already wow-worthy resume of acting as creative director at Vionnet, a Topshop capsule line, and being appointed Chief Designer of the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Suffice it to say, Sophia continues to be one to watch and we can’t wait to see what she does (and belts) next.

We adore this Central Saint Martins grad’s designs. Her recent Autumn/Winter 2009-10 collection for her signature line is badass with bedazzled biker jackets and body con dresses that make us squirm in our seats. Kokosalaki’s draped jersey designs are chic and comfy at the same time – imagine that! Plus, the fact that she uses metallic detailing like it’s going out of style means it probably won’t – at least not for another few seasons.

Look out world, it looks like Sophia has the Midas touch for Diesel Black Gold.
