A World Asleep But Me is on at BAND from July 2nd – September 27th

BAND (Black Artists Network in Dialogue) are thrilled to introduce, A World Asleep But Me by Owen V. Gordon a painter, sculptor, mixed-media artist, and writer based in Toronto. He has been committed to art-making for decades, combining figuration with abstraction into stylized compositions that frequently feature spontaneous constructions set against rich visual textures. Gordon has developed distinct bodies of work that explore a wide variety of subjects informed by his lived experience. From capturing vignettes of the urban environment, landscapes, domestic scenes, still lifes, and portraits—of real or imagined characters—to global politics and events, his work opens a vibrant window onto the world we collectively inhabit, but to the realities of which we are often oblivious.

Tours of the gallery are available by appointment, please email to set up a private tour.
