When you think of warehouse, glamour is probably not the word that comes to mind, depot or fluorescent maybe but not glamour. Well, that my friends, is because you’ve never seen Louis Vuitton do warehouse.

When a Louis Vuitton store in the Mitsukoshi Group in Ikebukuro, Japan was evicted due to the department store’s permanent closing they decided to squat in a friend’s warehouse space… for the time being.

On May 30, 2009 Louis Vuitton opened a temporary store in the basement of the Seibu Ikebukuro store. LV is waiting patiently for a new store in the same building, which will be ready in 2010.

Yellow and black construction tape line the floors of a raw steel structure. The infamous monogrammed bags are displayed on top of shipping crates. There is even a forklift parked at the door displaying the luxurious leather.

Although the store is not as soft as customers are used to, the rough, skeleton of a space serves its purpose and proves to us design nuts that LV can think on their steel booted toes.
